Oxidation is sun damage that leaves paint dull or chalky. We remove the oxidized layer with polishing, then protect it so it lasts.
Signs of oxidation
- Paint looks flat or faded compared with protected areas
- Chalky residue on your hand when you touch the panel
- Roof, hood and trunk look worse than the sides
- Red and black paint looking pink or gray
How we treat it
We wash and decontaminate, then machine polish to cut away the damaged top layer and restore gloss. Afterward, wax, sealant or ceramic coating slows it from coming back.
When paint is past saving
If the clear coat is peeling or flaking, polishing can't rebuild it, that needs a body shop. We'll point that out up front rather than sell a service that won't help.
