How to Remove Tree Sap and Pollen From Your Car

Parking under trees means sap and a yellow film of pollen. Here's how to clean both without harming paint.

Tree sap

Soften sap before removing it — never scrape. A sap remover or isopropyl solution on a microfiber, followed by washing, works well for fresh drops.

Pollen

Pollen is abrasive in large amounts. Rinse it off rather than wiping it dry.

  • Rinse thoroughly
  • Wash with soapy water
  • Change or clean cabin air filters in heavy seasons

Protection

Wax makes both sap and pollen easier to remove. Avoid parking under dripping trees when you can.

Frequently Asked Questions
